I am making a curl call via aka.shell that contains a $ and the character needs to be escaped with a \ in the curl call. I am not able to add this \ to the $ in a max message. Any ideas how i can format this?

You may have to write \\$ or \\\$ or worse. It should eventually work, however.

Max can surprise you with how many times it parses a text, and every time it parses, you lose an escape char. The big gotcha is when you've finally got it working and have to go and edit the message box with the backslash. You'll probably lose one in the process.

I can put &\\$ but my call does not work sent to the aka.shell object. If I put &\\\$ Max automatically strips it back to &\\$. I tried going further and using &\\\\$ and &\\\\\\$.

When I send \\\\ from one message to another, it strips it to \\. If I send \\ from one message to another it strips both.

It seems that I can get the message to the aka.shell object with \\ but not with just \.

Wondering if there is some way to work around: Could I convert to integers and back to characters as they are sent?
