i am writing a patch where tracked IR objects trigger various events. Is there a way to create a map, a matrix or lcd where there are drawn shapes (2d, but maybe eventually 3d) and if I have coordinates (x,y) I can known which shape these coordinates are inside?

I am also hoping to do this as efficiently as possible - what I am doing right now is have an LCD hooked up to a list of column x values and a multisplit. It works great - but it only lets me design full height columns and I want circles and rectangles.

One option is to create something so that everytime a new shape is added all the coordinates within that shape are added to a coll.

I am fairly ok with max, but jitter is not really my strength. I am working my way through the tutorials
