Max 5 still being released in this quarter?

March 31, 2008 | 12:02 am

Does anyone know if Max 5 is being released tomorrow?

I haven’t seen much information or questions here about Max 5, so I’m
just wondering if someone knows something I don’t. According to the
below article, it was slated to be released in this quarter which ends
tomorrow.

Don’t know but I did notice that the ‘Latest version’ box on the front page that lists the latest versions of each application/package was removed from the home page on Thursday or Friday.
My mouth is beginning to water, though…

Haha. I noticed the same thing about the updates being taken down from the front page.
I just finished my last big project in 4.6.3 and don’t have anything important coming up for a while, so I guess I can wait a little more patiently.

Still hope!
Well, they didn’t say in which Time Zone they counted the 1st quarter.
California is kind of late…

As long as they are not UI objects they have a very good chance of
working. I’ve found that objects mostly work, as long as they’re built
with a Pkginfo file inside, which some older objects weren’t. All the
ones I’ve tried either worked, or there were newer versions available
that did.

On the bright side, the longest you will possibly have to wait for an
answer is 14.5 hours.

Amazing, I looking forward to it.

MODERATORS’S NOTE: AMAZINGLY LAME MOVE BY ECHOLOCK@GMAIL.COM REMOVED FROM PUBLIC CONSUMPTION.

Note to folks considering posting private emails to the list in the future: this is the sort of thing that will get you banned.

March 31, 2008 | 5:05 pm

ha, that’s such a senselessly shitty thing to do, echolock.

March 31, 2008 | 5:22 pm

In my experience from testing, about 90 percent of the 3rd party objects work… some seems to work even better than with max 4 :)

UI objects has to be rewritten, to match the new GUI…

And for the much discussed rounded corners…. after testing max5 for a while, I have to say, i love the new look very much !

Hey Wade, what part of "off the record" didn’t you understand?

If I send you something in private mail, don’t go posting it to a list.

echolock@gmail.com == wade@aelophin.com is officially on my shitlist. I hope I get the opportunity to not help you in the future.

To everyone involved, please accept my apologies. I made a stupid
mistake in posting a private e-mail that I just skimmed over and
didn’t notice some important instructions. I’m really sorry to those
everyone I upset.

April 1, 2008 | 5:20 pm

behhh no news yet.

April 1, 2008 | 5:47 pm

LOL… This thread is ace.

Respectfully, would it be possible to get an updated ETA?

April 1, 2008 | 7:20 pm

Hi All,
The best answer I can give you is "soon, hopefully".
We are currently enjoying a very productive and active beta period, and
we are doing our absolute best to make sure Max 5 is completely
functional when it is released. Please know that we are just as anxious
as you are to have it released, and that the elves are working around
the clock all over the globe to bring you another fine Cycling ’74 release.

Stay tuned,

Andrew Benson

I’d much rather wait for a proper product than get a buggy one a bit ealier. Please keep us posted as possible.

Argh! "Soon, hopefully" is a way of not giving any ETA whatsoever and also covering your tracks by allowing you to delay for another year if you want :D :D

What step in the beta are you guys currently at? End of bug testing or still feature implementing?

April 1, 2008 | 11:47 pm

"Soon" isn’t good enough for you? Come on, every moment we spend answering email about the subtleties of what, precisely, we mean by "soon" is a moment not spent forging you the Max 5 you’re waiting for. It’ll be released when it’s ready, which will be soon, hopefully.

I’ve never had max fail me on a gig, and I tend to push it live. I
don’t mind waiting to be able to say the same thing about max 5.

I would *love* to tell that to my boss about *anything*.
