Max 7
How far is Max 7 yet?
Will it include objects able to save svg and 3d models?
up
Friends... current version is 6.0.7...
model export: https://cycling74.com/forums/topic.php?id=11950
I would love to see support for audio rate physical models (like Percolate). Native support for python would be nice too.
Also it would be great to have native support for Wwise or some other way to do procedural audio.
Native multitouch for me!
+1 for physical modeling but with the sound quality of Modalys or Genesis rather than the Percolate's one.
glad to see some people interested in new features, but is there anything official about max 7?
Thanks for the link about exporting models.
Next step in the Ableton-isation of the Max forum: continuous requests for new version releases ;)
In truth I guess I'm the only one asking this and is not a continuous asking.
Anyhow, I heard Max 7 will export models and svgs and I'm looking to see if is this true.
really we dont need a 7 version yet, not for a good 2-3 years. personal preference. we should just stick with max 6. there is still plenty to be had. plus as well, updates do bring new features. look at jit.phys
the only number we need are the updates to 6. we dont need a 7 just yet
it would just end up being incremental updates that would happen, which would lose users to the update for a 7th. it would not be a new look, 100+ more objects etc. its just pointless.
if you want new features or questions, get hold of cycling 74 through email and ask. see what they say. it would just be better to update what we have. its always worth a shot
And when is an update not an update?
I am super-cynical about products which suffer this 'not quite ready' symptom of market forces. As lewis says, if there is a feature or function which you need, contact C74 directly. Gen and jit.phys are substantial enough. Max currently has more features than I need. But then I'm still n**bish. It's something of a paradox: frequent update syndrome is aimed at both satisfying hardcore users who demand more, and enticing naive newcomer who don't know any better.
lewis, n00b:
I'm really addicted to updates and new versions. But you are right - actually Max is really up-to-date with build-in features. Maybe migration to 64bit environment and typical fixes should be expected, but, that's all for this moment (for me).
cheers
The next major change for Max pretty much has to be 64-bit support. The reason is that Ableton already has public betas for a 64-bit version of Live, and Max for Live will not work until there is a corresponding 64-bit version of Max. Given that project, plus the continuing evolution of Gen, plus the fact that three years elapsed between Max 5 and Max 6, plus the small size of Cycling '74, I find it hard to believe that there will be a major new feature release for Max any time soon.
Which is fine with me -- I've barely scratched the surface of Max 6.
I asked c74 for such features, they sayd are planned. When?
patience.
c74 are not a huge company. the laundry list of bug fixes they have to do with private beta alone, before it gets to the public, are in the hundreds, maybe thousands now.
there are features that are asked maybe daily, bug fixes and also small insignificant things. but they still get looked at and have a number put too them.
but it has to be done too a system of fixing/sorting highest ranking. meaning, which will affect the installer and package and the program fully. remember programming can affect different parts of a program in different ways, so the creation of something can affect something else, so it needs to be looked and figured out in a logical sense, rather than just diving in and possibly breaking it.
it will get done, you do just have to be patient.
why not look at third party tools for what your looking for, somethat can link with max etc? most max heads, noob or pro try this method and like it.
I'm planning to use vvvv and puredata until these features aren't in Max. But I will of course buy Max as soon as such features are in.
good luck on your search.
but, you can always look for third party externals through maxobjects.com. what you are looking for has maybe been done before, more that 3 times already
thanks, I'm going to maxobjects right now
no, there are no objects for doing what's in my purpose
export gen~ to VST for me!!
"Look! Cows!"
"Are we there yet?"
"I have to go to the bathroom."
gen~ to vst is already half a thing
