max crash motu traveller

June 7, 2007 | 9:13 am

I have a Motu traveller and want to send the audio out via headphones. When I select audio driver in the DSP status to be CoreAudio build in audio
input device Motu Traveller
output destination headphones

Max crashes when sending audio output.
Any idea what goes wrong?

Could it have to do with the fact that you’re choosing ‘built in
audio’ for the driver, but then selecting the Traveller (which is not
a ‘built in’ device) for input? You might try creating an ‘aggregate
device’ (in Audio MIDI Setup, assuming you’re on a Mac) to include
both the Traveller and the built in devices.

Also, make sure you have the most recent driver for the Traveller. The
old one makes Max angry…

I’ve run into this before on my 828mk2. Buried deep within a menu,
there is a factory restore option you can access from the front panel
of the 828mk2. This always solved the issue for me. Perhaps there is
one for the Traveller? It was in the MOTU documentation for the card,
I beleive.

You can reset the 828 MkII to default settings in the following way
(as provided from the MOTU support page):

Follow these steps to restore the 828mkII to Factory Default Settings.

Disconnect the firewire cable from the 828mkII
Press the Setup knob
Turn the Setup knob all the way to the right
Press the Select knob
Press the Value knob
Power off the interface and plug the firewire cable back in
Power the interface back on
The same steps can be followed to restore the Factory Default
Settings on a Traveler.
