Not a big wish, but i'm somehow unable to find a quick solution in this forum.

I want to create a M4L-Midi Instrument with audio-in from another Track.

-a Combobox for Pre FX / Post FX / Post Mixer selection (like in a Ableton Audio Track)

-the incoming audio directly routed to the Max Instrument plugout~

you can only take audio and midi from the track the device is on (long time limitation)

however, you could send midi data via send/receive as it won't be as high data rate...

so you'd probably be better off having an audio effect and then routing the midi data to it from elsewhere, if that would work for you...

Thx for your idea. I now have the default Max Midi Effect "Expression Control" updated to receive Midi from a sender instead of the current track. Works fine. But my problem now: How do i switch it from being a Midi Effect to a Audio Effect. Just inserting connected plugin~/plugout~ does not work. What properties/objects/whatever defines the type of Max4Live Effects?

Generally: I would like to play with Midi controlled Audio-Effects on a Audio-Stream. If i figure out how to do this Midi/Audio-Switch, i'm able to control any Live-Effect on a Audio-Track by a Midi-Track.

i don't think you can switch, there's meta info in the objects I believe.... create a new audio object, do a select all and copy in the old one, paste into new one should do the trick...

i think the limitations are with Live here, not Max... but still, limitations they are

i've already tried that trick. some parts of "Expression Control" are not inserted after pasting it into a new audio effect...
