Please consider paying your staff. Unpaid internships only exacerbate social inequality.

I was purely cynical, critizing the OP. I would never do this.

And since I know people working in this area are doing it because they are really into it, and many people are looking for opportunities to make a living out of their passion, I want to apologize at anybody who took me seriously.

I agree, companies should pay interns something instead of using them. Now if you don't know Max and they are willing to teach you it, I guess that's worth something, depending on how much work is involved.

Otherwise, I would not consider an unpaid internship. If you are going to be working for free, you might as well be working for yourself.

1 month is enough for evaluation(enough training can happen then as well... training is ongoing anyways).

A SMART company would not keep an intern for 6 months unpaid. If unpaid, 1 month is enough to know whether or not the intern will or will not be valuable. Keeping them on beyond that is not just a waste of the intern's time, but also shows a frivolous waste of company resources as well.

A SMART intern, likewise, would only trust such a situation for 1 month at most all the while being on the lookout for other opportunities.

A SMART intern, then, will diminish their efforts beyond that 1 month, leaving a less than smart company wanting for a new intern very soon(again, the remaining 5 months is not as efficiently used as either party would hope).

Any intern desperate enough to respond to this, would probably also be desperate to gather as much internal/proprietary information from this situation as possible, since that's the only way they have to gain from the situation(after 1 month, the relationship will be more and more soured by a feeling of underappreciation). Again, not smart for the company to invite such a relationship.
