> 1st level: beginner to intermediate (Max, MSP and Jitter) – August 11 to August 16, 2008

Language: English. Listening comprehension of English language is requested, while personal explanations might be given in French during individual practice.

Discover Max/MSP/Jitter, the most advanced and versatile intermedia computer environment for electronic music, digital images, performances and interactive installations. Capture sounds, play them back, modify them. Do the same with MIDI sequences and videos. Use your MIDI keyboard, your control surface, joystick or sensors to interact with your own tools. Create synthetic pictures, movies and sounds from scratch and generate melodies algorithmically. Integrate existing VST plug-ins into your own tools. As Max/MSP/Jitter has a huge potential, it’s hard to encompass all its scope in a few days. Therefore this course intends to offer to beginners a solid basis for a global understanding of this software and its practical use first and foremost.

Prerequisites: Basic computer skills are requested. Moreover, a basic knowledge of sound, music and/or video is recommended to enjoy the courses fully. Some patience and some sense of logic are helpful too.

Participants are required to bring their own laptop (Windows or Mac) with Max/MSP/Jitter (either 4.6 or 5) installed.

Location : Musiques & Recherches, Lasne, 25 minutes from Brussels by car. Accomodation available.

Price: 250 euros
