max num. of instances in jit.gl.multiple?

July 12, 2008 | 9:29 pm

Hi,
how i could modify the num. of instances in jit.gl.multiple? i can
only get a maximum array of 12×12 instances, but i would
like to use more, and in the glparameters there isn’t any parameter to
set the num of instances…
thanks a lot!!

If you post a patch it would be much easier to help you.

I know this is an old thread but I have a similar question. The maximum matrix size I’ve ever been able to use with jit.gl.multiple was 15×15, or 225 instances.

I’m wondering if this is an intentional or accidental limitation. The object seems to ignore matrice positions beyond 15 in any given dimensions, even if other dimension are smaller.

Is it true that there’s a hard cap built into the object? An internal matrix of fixed dimensions? Would be great to know.

I just now got an old patch to run feeding a 700 x 1 matrix to jit.gl.multiple.

If you post a thread, someone might be able to help.

best,
Zachary

Figured it out:

gl.multiple requires that all matrices (pos, rotation, scale, tex) be the same dimension. I was changing the the size of the position array without changing the others.

Easy fix, obvious in hindsight, but maybe it should added to the documentation!
