i'd really love to see a live range slider!

Personally I think you're way overdoing it with all those petitions. If you want to make some impact write some feature requests instead, that's bound to reach the developers. So far I get the impression that your time would be better spend learning and experimenting some more with Live itself so that you get a better grip of how it works, what it is and most of all what it can and cannot do.

Its just that M4L isn't full Max, simple as that. It Max 

. Meaning that it allows you to do as much as Live can. So as long as Live doesn't support more than 2 stereo audio channels isn't it a tad obvious that the same would apply to Max for Live?

No offense here, but if you don't know much about Live and approach M4L as if it were just Max sitting in Live then I can well understand the problems you've been facing so far. But IMVHO that's really not much of a M4L problem or limitation perse.

And no offense really. I get your point. Still i think that a little better integration would be great. But i'm not a Max or Live coder and i don't know about the issues in this kind of tight interaction. As it is now the interation is great. Just not perfect for my needs. That's why i'm feature requesting in the 'petition' form. Just to see if i'm the only one facing this kind of "limits". For sure i'll try to find workarounds that fit my personal creative needs/workflow. i.e. i think Ableton is to connected to "time/beat" paradigm. I'd like for example to have looping not-warped clips. This is not completely possible right now. Even with follow actions is kind of tricky. Maybe Ableton is to "dj oriented"? Just some thoughts on my side...not objective reality. Just personal point of view.

Maybe it would be time to write a petition to the Max developers to drop M4L at all... Seriously, is there anything that you can do in Live and that can't be done in Max? (If not with plain Max objects, given the fact that you can extend Max using at least three well-known languages -- C, Java, JavaScript -- I really don't see any barriers here.)

From my part, if I had to vote, I'd encourage the Max developers to concentrate on the improvement of the Max core instead of putting any effort in M4L... Don't forget that there are only a few developers at Cycling '74, and there's soooo much stuff to do besides M4L. (To name a few: I'd be happy to see a 64 bit version of Max, or a Linux version, or a MaxLib that could be embedded into custom software... Really, there's sooo much place for improvement...)

A live.track object, a live.clip, live.set etc. Like having all the LOM inside the Max enviroment. 64 bit, Linux, a MaxLib all great ideas. Being a musician i hardly would get the time to fully get into coding for building a kind of DAW set of objects. I think both Max and Live are great in their respective world. Probably the future will see a more tight integration. And may be Pluggo being resurrected?

Siska, i don't agree at all, of course you could probably do many things in max instead of Live, i just don't see the point of loosing time programming things that DAW's do maybe easily than in max, they are different things and working together become a very powerful tool.

But you don't have to use m4l if you don't like it anyway.

The most obvious problem with most of the OP's petitions is that they're on the wrong forum. As others have stated, most of the functionality limitations are inherent to Live itself. Cycling '74 can't do anything about Live. OP needs to be directing his feature requests to Ableton (although most of them have been logged for quite some time now).

maybe I didn't express myself well. What I really wanted to emphasize was, that AFAIK Cycling '74 is a small company with not too many developers. My personal problem with too many feature requests for things like M4L is that if they start taking them seriously, they obviously would need to cancel (or at least, put much less effort) in other development tasks. Of course, from this point this is just a debate on users' preferences and taste; I just wanted to add an opinion here that emphasizes that there are Max users (and I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only one of them) who consider the development of the core of Max as a higher priority.

M4L is a great option, and I'm sure that it helps the everyday life of many folks (although I have personally always preferred to create my own mini-DAWs in Max for each project of mine so far, as it usually gives me a much higher level of flexibility -- after all, it usually comes down to some patching with [coll]s, [transport], and patch scripting). Of course, I didn't mean it seriously that they should drop M4L. :-) However, it would be very sad, at least for users like me, if Cycling '74 would decide to move 'developer resources' from the Max core to the M4L lineage...

P.S. Max 6 is a 32bit application. However, the audio bit depth in Max 6 is 64 bits, but that doesn't have to do anything with the architecture.
