the new max 5 seems really great, and comes with its new bugs :)

the more i double-click to create new objects, the more the panel with

objects icons comes up, and its vertical size increases dangerously.

it's now completely off-screen, i just see a large grey panel when i

doubleclick (icons went up). i have to drag it down to bring icons on

Second this. (MacOS 10.5.2 / 1.83 Intel Core2 duo). Double-click - Esc - Double-click - Esc etc. This sequence makes the new object window grow because the size of the icons grow with each step.

A public beta period would've really helped root out all these bugs!

if i were all of you, i would consider this month to be an honest-to- 

god public beta period. don't go ahead and blithely move everything 

to .maxpat format yet. kick it around, see bugs, report them. the 

software is bound to have some more creaks. with your help it can get 

closer to perfection. meanwhile, nobody is kicking you out of m4-land

god public beta period.  don't go ahead and blithely move everything  
to .maxpat format yet.  kick it around, see bugs, report them.  the  
software is bound to have some more creaks.  with your help it can get  
closer to perfection.  meanwhile, nobody is kicking you out of m4-land  
just yet.

Thanks for the report. This palette resizing problem is fixed for the incremental update, which should be out at the end of the week.

Oh god, I hope not. At a past job, we once tried something like this. What happens is you get a flood of completely trivial bug reports and many bugs that are slight variations of the same problem, like:

Then it's a complete disaster trying to remove duplicates and start factoring bug report quality into the equation.

Never give people an incentive to report bugs above and beyond the basic desire to improve the product.

Now, if there were a free license for the person who creates the best patch, voted by the community. That would be a nice contest...
