max5 runtime presentation mode ?

June 1, 2008 | 8:40 pm

Hello,

I might be a bit tired, but I don’t find the presentation mode in max 5 runtime. Is it just not there or is it me ?

Thanks,

Alain

To have your patch open in Presentation mode,
you need to set that attribute [Open in Presentation]
using the Patcher Inspector. Since one cannot edit
patches when using the Runtime, I’m not surprised to
discover you can’t switch between Patching and
Presentation modes….

Seems a reasonable guess, anyway. So reasonable that
my initial response was to wonder why you’d want to
do it. :-)

Thanks for the reply,

Anyways, in this case I am leaving a patch in an installation for some month, and before I leave it there I will fine tune some parameters (that are then saved in a txt file).
I did not want to bother putting these parameters in the presentation mode (in case someone might start playing with it) and I just leave the main controls, sound levels etc in the presentation.

I still need to get used to the presentation mode, I guess, and go for it, rather than try to stay in between ;)

Cheers,

Alain

What you describe makes sense. In that case, I’d take
the stuff I wanted to tweak and put it into a named
coll and *not* add it to the presentation layer and
just edit the coll as a text file while I tweaked it,
leaving my installation’s hosts with a file I’d fine
tuned that would always just load.

But that’s just me, and this is Max; there are a lot of
ways to do what you describe.

Yes, thanks,
I’ll be doing something in that line. It’s no problem.
I’ll probably just use max to tweak and then run the patch in the runtime version.
There are just so many new things in max 5 that you just expect more and more and more :)

Cheers,

Alain
