Does anyone know a tutorial for using ableton live w/ Max/MSP and the Wii to control sound media?

Hello,

well, I don’t know if a tutorial exist

but:

with the aka.wiiremote (an nice object you can find easily)
some appropriate scalings of the values sending by the Wii parameters, and then sending those by some ctlout, you can easily command Live

I tested it just “to see”, with the trigger, and it works fine

Best

Roxanna 1908,

You don’t give any details about your computer or Max MSP version, but if you’re on Max MSP 4.6, you can use the aka.wiiremote object mentioned above. Download it here:

http://www.iamas.ac.jp/~aka/max/#aka_wiiremote

It is not clear if there is a Windows version.

Sending MIDI to other apps from Max is achieved by selecting ‘fromMaxMSP’ as the MIDI output in one of Max’s various MIDI outputting objects like [midiout] or [ctlout] (as mentioned above). In Ableton (which I don’t know very well) you should be able to select ‘fromMaxMSP’ as an input. Voila

Check the documentation for how to select MIDI destinations in Max although a quick and easy way to achieve this in a one-off fashion is to hold apple and double click and drag on the MIDI output object in question.

I hope this helps.

There is a windows version. It works very well. As far as I
know it only works with BlueSoleil blue tooth receivers.

Download for the Max external can be found here:
