Hi all. I am expereimenting with MAX MSP and Microcontrollers and have recently uploaded STICKOS (http://www.cpustick.com/ )onto my freescale DEMOJM board. I can send information from the board to a CP2102 UART to USB board and view serial information on a terminal on my PC via COM10.
I would like to know if it is possible to use MAX/MSP to connect to a COM port on my computer. The UART/USB board ( silabs) is on COM10.
Can MAX/MSP communicate with the COM ports on my PC?

If someone know whether this is possible, I would appreciate any help in the matter.
Thanks
Steve.

Oh yeah!
Thanks MZED. I’ve just managed to get the DEMOJM board hooked up to MAX/MSP using Serial Object like you suggested.:)
So far I can “roughly” control an oscillator with the DEMOJMs on board Potentiometer. I am now looking into using the on board 3 axis accelerometer.. I can’t wait until my Zigflea boards arrive.
I will post when I’ve got something substantial going. Do you use Microcontrollers and MAX? Have you used STICKOS, if so I’d love to hear your experiences.
All the best,
Steve (LONDON)
