Max/MSP Data to Flash 8 on Mac?
i would like to transfer Data which comes from a Microcontroller and enters then Max/MSP to Flash, to work with the data in Actionscript for a realtime-animation.
Does someone know, how this could work, because the flashserver only works for windows.
Or is there a detour over other programs?
hey, thanks a lot. right now it works from flash to Max/Msp. and i am trying via.
Have you already worked on that?
No, I didn’t have a chance to work with that yet. I had a project in works where we thought about using it but actually, the project is on the slow lane…;)
A word of warning: as I mentioned before a couple of times, the combination of MaxMSP and Flash on the same Mac (and probably on PC too) is flaky.
Flash wants lots of resources all the time for stuff like animations, and Max is picky too. A deadly combination that in my experience will never work reliably, even with stuff that shouldn’t tax the system at all.
What might work: running Flash on one machine, and Max on another, and use tcp or osc mesaages to communicate between the 2.
hi zip, if you already worekd in this, could you tell me how to set up MAX/MSP fpr sending Data to Flash? It just won’t work. I am new to this and maybe i forgor something, but i opend the example from http://www.nullmedium.de/dev/flashserver/index.html and i can send strings from flash to the text window of MAX but i don’t know how to send a string from MAX to Flash?

Is there anything special about my 4 computers I’m using flashserver
on? Everybody is recently writing me emails asking "how to I send
from Max to Flash", but it’s all in the manual and the example
patches / flash files, so what’s going on here? Are my descriptions
on the maunal so bad that people simply don’t get what I’m talking
about? Or is there anything that prevents it from working on machines
other than mine?
As long as the connection is workling one way it should also work the
other way round since it’s a bi-directional TCP connection. Is this a
specific Flash8 problem? I think I skipped that version and jumped
from 7 to 9 or something.
