Max/MSP patch Yahama SPX90 Pitch Change

February 9, 2006 | 5:42 pm

Hi guys, Not too sure if any of you are familiar with the capabilities of the Yahama SPX90 but I’m looking to perform a piece which utilises one and I’m wondering if anyone knows of a Max patch which can perform what I want out of the SPX90. Basically I want to send feeds from 30 secs buffers into a stereo delay/harmonizer patch which would in one sense remove the need for the SPX90. I’ll need a DSP patch to shift the pitch of the buffer to set parameters within the score and hence harmonizing the live feed. Any suggestions? Thanks for your time guys! Cheers

Hey- it shouldnt be too much of a problem to emulate the effect your describing. If you want to change the pitch by speeding up slwoing down the buffer you could use groove, but equally if speeding up or slowing down is out of the question, just use gizmo~(a nice FFT pitch shifter). If you want harmonisations in midi notes, just use the Mtof object. For delays use either tapin~ and tapout~ or delay~ (makes a bit of noise when shifting delay during playback though)
Hope that helps
