MaxMSP5 on linux

August 14, 2008 | 10:17 am

hi guys!
i’m tryin’ to do some tests with Max5 on linux.
i know that max5 is based on Jules’ juce framework wich is crossplatform.
i’ve tried to install max5 using wine on ubuntu studio…

but wine doesn’t like the pace drivers so is a "no go"

would be great to have a non-pace max5 version (time limited for anti-piracy) to do tests on linux…
linux is great! low latency and rock solid!
ideal for live sessions

thanx

Correct me please but was there not discussions about making a Linux version available earlier this year?

hi,
c74 said that max5 is crossplatform so may run on linux in future…

…i did some tests with max5 runtime using wine and wineasio…

good news
1. max5 loads correctly
2. i got the test tone running the first time with wine asio and jack

bad news

after the first time max5 give me errors about "wine asio error -1000"

any clue from developers?

thanx

No, there was a comment in one of David’s articles about the then-forthcoming Max 5 — he remarked that, with the architectural changes to Max, it’s now a conceivable project, whereas before it was more or less impossible. Conceivable is, however, not the same as scheduled.

Interesting but a shame.
