Max's goofy window behavior

February 4, 2007 | 3:34 pm

Max is the only program that i’ve ever used that, when you click on the
contents of a window, it does not bring that window to the front unless you
click on the blue bar that sits at the top of that window (i’m running max
on windows xp). Is there any way to make max’s windows behave normally?
(i.e. if you click anywhere on a window, it will bring it to the front)

I don’t have my windows machine handy, but I think it works the same
as a Mac – try turning off All Windows Active under the Options menu.

There are things I missed, I’m sure. But the Fundamentals manual section on Menu items couldn’t have been clearer on this point.

Nearly every human alive finds something in that PDF they
didn’t know about and can use. That’s why the thing was
re-named "Fundamentals." Might be worth a look on your
off-time. I actually found a shortcut I never use checking
to see if I remembered correctly about it being in the
manual in the first place. It was, [p. 23].

Good point. When I started with max it wasn’t called ‘Fundamentals’ yet. I’ll have to check if anything was added since then.
