media player as input of max/msp

hello...

do you know if we can "force" max/msp to hear the audio output of winamp, youtube etc ?

Hi
this is not normally possible directly; most systems require you to re-route your audio ins and outs - it depends on the type of soundcard you are using. A quick fix:
1. look under Options/DSP Settings/IO Mapping to verify your own ins and outs
2. turn all speakers/headphones etc off
3. connect HW audio output to audio input

If you need this simply to 'record' audio then another solution might be a free video-ripping utility like Clip Extractor.

thank you n00b_meister...but unforunatelly my audio card (focusrite saffire 6 usb) has not any HW audio output... also i don t want it just for recording

jan very usefull information but as i have tried and read, adoutput~ takes as inputs the outputs of max/msp and not the outputs of an external player as winamp ... but please contact if i have miss something..

@Brendan i thought that you was talking about internal software routing (some audio cards like M-Audio Audiophile give you this possibility) ... but although i am really confused about this solution.. if we suppose that we close all the outputs then how a media player can reproduse the sound?

@thank you Tim, that's the way..

@jan no broblem!
