I have a series of 2d arrays (12 in total and a few other smaller ones) which are each [25][25] in size. When I try to expand them further (say to [36][36]) Max crashes when I try to open it.

I've tried lots of different things and it really seems to be a memory problem as it's purely based on the size of my arrays.

Anyone know how I could get my object to work with bigger arrays?

It probably depends what type of data are in your array. You can't allocate more than a certain number of bytes on the stack (it's something like 32k unless I'm wrong...). You might want to have a look to sysmem_newptr()/sysmem_freeptr() which are cross plateform ways to allocate/free memory dynamically.

your object will break when kArraySize is larger than about 45.

2*kArraySize*kArraySize*sizeof(double) = 32.4 kB, but newobject() uses getbytes() which in my experience is limited to 32,764 bytes (a strange number but not odd) in a single run through Max' main event loop (the getbytes() buffer is apparently replenished as needed on every run through the Event Loop)

All of this is untested web-written code.

This has actually been discussed on the list hundreds of times, although it's not obvious how to construct a Google query that would turn up the relevant threads.
