MFL input/output issues?

November 24, 2013 | 3:59 pm

So…a MFL instrument is midiin to plugout. and midi effects and audio effects are constrained within their formats.
Is there a way to send midiout from a plugin? I have a fundamental frequency patch that works great in max sending to live but in its MFL iteration it does not work. I have experimented with using send and recv and that solves the problem but the lag is unusable. Is this a design flaw in MFL? Is there a workaround?

You could try splitting the MFL instrument into midi effect + instrument.
This way midi output would be available on other tracks via the input menu (Post FX).

I did try something to that effect using the send recv to make the instrument and midi effect communicate. Is there a faster protocol for this? the lag was unusuable.

For direct communication between MFL devices there is no protocol with perfect timing. You can use send/receive or udpsend/udpreceive, but both introduce latency depending on Live’s audio buffer size.
