MIDI Channel always 1 in Live?

Hallo,

is there any options to send MIDI messages to other tracks in Live?

Thank you in advance.

Your topic and question seem somewhat unrelated.

To get a clear answer, please describe what you want to achieve.

Hallo broc,

I am trying to make a stepsequencer with MaxforLive for the Lemur. I would like to send MIDI note messages to other MIDI tracks in Live. For example I have 5 MIDI tracks in Live, one for Max patch to control MIDI data and the others to receive that.

I’m wondering how to do this?

Thank you.

Unfortunately, there is no general solution.

On the receiver tracks ‘Midi From’ you can choose the control track as input. But there is no channel separation, i.e. all receivers get the same data.

However, if your step sequencer generates drum notes, you could filter out the appropriate pitches on each receiver with a simple midi effect device.

That what I was thinking to do.

Is it possible that we will see this in the next release? What do you think?

Considering the fact that Live’s internal midi processing (eg. effects) doesn’t handle channel information, I wouldn’t expect substantial changes in this regard.

Thank you for the information.

Have a good time.
