MIDI in to Max, control frames in Flash

hello all,

i would like to create the following:

- notein from MIDI keyboard triggers display of an image

i thought flash might be an easy way to do this: i don’t care WHAT note gets played, i just want to know if any note is played. this would send the equivalent of a “bang” to flash. flash then moves the frame of a movie forward one frame. each frame of this movie has a different still image – no video.

what would you recommend? is this program what people use for flash: http://www.nullmedium.de/dev/flashserver/

i do not have jitter and have never used it, but am willing to go for it if people suggest that is easier.

thank you so much,
aya.

Check this out:

If you already know Flash pretty well, I would stick to that.

Also, if I were doing this, I would use Max to send an OSC message to Flash via flosc:

However, that’s because I work with OSC a great deal. Essentially, there are a few different tools that you could use to accomplish your goal; choose the ones you’re most comfortable with.

thanks. the ‘movie’ object is sufficient for the simple prototype i am now making.
