I am using an m audio 61es midi keyboard to play notes via logic into max using the notein object (on a Mac).

My problem is that only the first 16 keys of the keyboard will make any sound even though all the midi numbers can be seen entering max when checking them with a number box straight out of notein. I really would appreciate some help here to get all the keys to actually make a sound.

There must be something wrong with your patch.

I was quite sure I had sorted all the bugs from this patch (although I am still only a beginner), but if you think you can help I would most appreciated it.

Just for a little background on the patch if its needed...

It is designed to receive midi compositions from logic and then allows me to change the pitch of any or all the keys, slowly de constructing the scale the piece was originally written in.

I am also hoping that the same patch will allow me to design different tempered scales to compose micro tonal music.

The argument to noteout is not note number, it is MIDI channel number.

Thanks for the help I think I got the gist of what you meant. With the attached patch I can now get all of the notes out of the midi keyboard. However when I now use the sliders to bend the note one slider bends all of the notes not just the one assigned to it. I'm sorry if the patch is rather haphazard I may have done something horribly wrong. Any more help would be highly appreciated.

MIDI pitchbend effects all the notes on a given channel. If you have multiple note on a channel, they will all bend. If you are really trying to do non-tempered music, with this technique, you will be only be able to send one note per MIDI channel. A MIDI device can only have sixteen channels, so if you wanted to keep your current approach, to accommodate the 60 notes you have, you would need four MIDI device (60 / 16 = 3.75)

A slightly better approach might be to treat the sixteen MIDI channels of a device as individual notes of polyphony, and assign notes to channels dynamically. This way you would be able to play any sixteen notes at a time. The poly or borax objects could help here, but it's a chunk of work in either case.
