This has now happened to me enough times over the last few months that I'm suspicious there's a problem inside Max (I'm seeing this with Max 5 and right now I don't know if it's happening with Max 6)

The symptom is that if I leave my computer alone for a few hours with Max patches up, those patches no longer appear to work when I come back to the Mac again. By throwing in some raw midiin objects, it turns out that Max is no longer receiving MIDI from my keyboard. However, if I run the Snoize MIDI Monitor app, it does indicate that MIDI events are arriving at the computer.

Quiting Max and restarting it corrects the problem.

MIDI seems to die inside Max if there's no activity for a few hours
