midiparty

Here is the midi parsing code i dug up. Sorry the demo patch is such
a mess.
The code is pretty well documented and straightforward.

Basically it parses a midi file and spews out the data either
textually or in raw form appropriate
for sending directly to a midi device.

The midi file can be specified as either an absolute path.If it is
not found the max search path is
used.

Take care.

okay, this sounds cool. But where is the attachment? Can we not get attachments from the online forum? (Forgive the stupid question, if it is indeed stupid.)

No, we cannot.

Not stupid, just frequently asked.

and more, even in the last week. Ask Google or the site search.

It’s not a sin to ask frequent questions, and the FAQ (which,
unfortunately, is only a very generic how-to-use-fudforum FAQ) isn’t
exactly specific. < http://www.cycling74.com/forums/index.php?

f7c7#attach>.

Short of digging (which isn’t always easy), people are going to have
to resort to asking questions frequently.-(

A FAQ including site-specific information (eg the deal on
attachments) plus Max/MSP/Jitter info would be a big plus and help to
make the lists/fora a more useful resource.

hmmm… what’s confusing, I guess, is the fact that the last two posts clearly imply that an attachment has changed hands. I figure this is because the old mail list is still running, and that’s where the actual attachments are being sent/received. I did “subscribe” to the topic, hoping sometihng would come through, but nothing appeared yet.

Dunno…

If someone has the midiparse code, maybe you could mail it to me directly(??). My user name is my active email.

cheers,

J.

The forum and the *new* maillist echo each other (or are
“integrated”). Attachments work just fine if you read/write via the
email list.

About the first thing I did with the new lists was to make sure my
profile was set to do everything by mail. I don’t recall exactly
where the setting was, but seek and thou shalt find. Forum access
offers some options that may not be simple to emulate with mail
filters, but I find mail access, at the end of the day, a lot more
productive.

And I get my attachments.

We are working on getting attachments mirrored to the forums but it
may be a while.

Topher, I just wanted to say thanks for this, now
that I’m finally getting around to looking at it
- nice bit of code, and extremely useful!
