I'm having problems with a sub-patcher that is causing Max 5 to crash. The purpose of this sub-patcher is to give users the option of selecting a sample segment to loop and/or randomly modulating the end-points of the selected segment.

The sub-patcher receives signals from a MIDI controller and sends values to a waveform~ object, based on the size of the sample loaded into the buffer. The user can toggle between selecting loop endpoints and modulating endpoints around the selected values. The main patch has four sample players looping simultaneously, each with its own endpoint selection/modulation sub-patcher.

The problem usually occurs at the moment that one of these sample players is switch from modulate mode to selection mode - although it certainly doesn't happen every time. I suspect the problem generally occurs if modulation is toggled off at a time when the loop end value is lower than the loop start value but - again - Max doesn't crash every time this happens .

I can't find any information relating to this specific issue on the forum but a couple of things I read have lead me to suspect the problem may be caused by some kind of feedback.

I'm new to Max 5 and haven't explored the debugger yet. This is probably the ideal opportunity for me to do so. In the meantime, though, I'd appreciate any help or suggestions folks on the forum could give me. I've attached a copy of the sub-patcher to this post.
