more sampler2d vs sampler2drect questions

I found the following at the following URL

POT – using normalized texture coordinates (0..1, 0..1)
In GLSL access via sampler2D, texture2D, texture2dProj
Bind as GL_TEXTURE2D

RECT – using unnormalized texture coordinates (0..w, 0..h)
In GLSL access via sampler2DRect, texture2DRect
Bind as GL_TEXTURE_RECTANGLE_ARB

NPOT – using normalized texture coordinates (0..1, 0..1)
In GLSL access via sampler2D, texture2D, texture2dProj
Bind as GL_TEXTURE2D

Is there a way to specify this to the texture which is being fed to a
shader? I suspect that this might make the sampler2d work but I have no idea
where to feed these flags within jitter…
