I know this is a relatively easy question to answer, but I feel like I've tried everything, from ~select to defining a number for ~onebang, etc.

I want to output location on the ~lcd with only the mousedown click. No matter what I try, it prints out the location twice, mousedown and mouseup.

The third outlet of lcd reports the mouse down state. You can easily switch a gate with that information, e.g. like this:
