Moving Projector Mapping Example

November 22, 2011 | 10:38 pm

Something people might find interesting. First successful test of a projection mapping patch for a moving-head projector. jit.gl.node and jit.gl.camera are proving very useful in this project.

Good stuff. How about mounting a Kinect on your projector and controlling a nurbs surface with it somehow, hey presto, moving head projector with auto mapping!

+1 for the kinect ;)

Was planning on looking at trying it with the Kinect actually, although applications may be limited depending the depth range at which the Kinect can operate accurately (the mapping has to be dead-on accurate or you get major jittering).

Interestingly the unit I’m using (High End Systems DL2) does actually have a built-in camera and an infrared illuminator next to the lens, so there’s a lot of possibilities. Pity they cost around £25,000!
