Multi-language Max/MSP (B Garton)

July 11, 2007 | 2:56 pm

hi

since 3 days i am beginning Super Collider3

of course the idea is to control it from Max

so i loked at the "Multi-language Max/MSP" article written on the
C74 home page by Brad Garton
and downloaded the patches

and – CRASH

when opening his given patches (illustring the article) and trying to
open the patch5-SC3.pat (the CS3/max "collaboration" max crashes

it’s on both a PPC, running max 4.5, and intel running max 4.6 – both
with OS X47

a working patch, or any help would be REALLY handy

or, in other words, hos to control SC3 with Max??? (which objet,
which message etc etc)

many thanks

best

Kasper –

I suspect the problem is a number of external objects that you are
missing (like rtcmix~, csound~, chuck~, the whole JMSL thing,
etc.). I wrote the article by building on top of previous patches,
more as a demo of what’s possible. But it doesn’t do much good if
you can’t open the patches! Sorry!

Below I’ve included just the section of the patch5-SC3 example that
does the communication with the SC3 server. Even here, however,
you will need some 3rd-party externals, the OpenSoundControl and
otudp objects in particular (I think you get them from CNMAT –
check maxobjects.com).

Hopefully this will get you going. You will have to have SC3
running separately to get the connection to happen.
