Multiple Apps in Login Items = trouble

Hi everybody!

I am having trouble launching 3 compiled applications from the login items list. the first one runs but the other two beachball. If I change the order, the first one will run no matter which one it is.

The applications run fine together if launched by hand.

Why would this bad thing happen on such a nice day?
Does there need to be a delay between launches?
I suppose I could make a fourth Application that launches the other three with a delay (using aka.shell).

Thanks!
Matt

Hi Matt,

I haven’t had this problem, but I prefer to use applescript for this and delay start times. You can just modify the app names in the script, add/delete as needed, then run this at startup. It’s an Applescript app, but you can edit in Applescript editor. Hope that helps.

best,
Zachary

Thanks Zachary!

I used Automator to launch the applications with a 10 second delay between each. Then I saved it as an application and added it to the Login Items list instead of the individual Apps from Max. All is well now. I’ll have a look at your Applescript as well. Applescript is probably more versitile if I need the script to do other things later.
