Multisample Solutions in MaxMSP / Multisample translation?

Hi All,

I’m looking for a solution to be able to use a large multisampled instrument that I own a copy of in Max/MSP. The idea is to do so without one of the big commercial samplers (e.g. Kontakt) which are anyway not yet available on the MacIntel side.

It seems as though translation from multisample formats to soundfonts is possible using a Windows program such as AWave, and one hopes that the Apple DLS synth or another soundfont player may cope with the result. Has anyone experience using this method? I wanted to ask before trying, because the sample instruments are quite large.

Any related advice welcomed. Thanks,
Yon

and MachFive v2 is announced since almost 2 years… (I wouldn’t
recommend the current version…)

CDXtract (http://www.cdxtract.com ), which runs on Mac & PC can do the
conversion too. It worked when I tried, converting from an Akai bank to
soudfont, but the bank was small and I didn’t test exhaustively.
