mxj game of life (not jit.conway)

November 4, 2007 | 4:33 pm

Hi all,

I was browsing the internet recently and found a max patch which emulated conway’s the game of life using an mxj object connected to matrix ctrl. Unfortunately my computer broke, i lost the patch and now i cannot find it.

Does anybody here have the patch, or a similar one which they could upload?

Thanks
Chris

hello
it was nice jvkr one (2003)
can find in max object: Cellular.sit
…not in mxj, but there in GLSL

http://www.lsi.upc.edu/~tmfrohlich/
it seems easy if you read jitter tutorial 43 to connect that in one
or two slabs…
i did’nt succes yet…
I tryed also to feedback texture into "cf.convolve.jxs"
…not far but not yet
i already asked help, for GPU CA/NKS slab in jitter, no answer…
probably because it will be a nice example if you pay for max 5.
but right now, it’s difficult to pull out that spagettis from nose of
guru-programmer…

Hey, here’s something that may interest you. I don’t think it directly
interfaces with the matrix object (I’m not actually sure, I haven’t used it)
but it’s a game of life type thing.
There’s 1, 2 and 3 dimensional versions.

Hi

I know that Bruno Zamborlin made an interactive installation using the rules of the game of life.
It was in Venice this summer.

Here’s the link: http://www.brunozamborlin.com/microlife.shtml

Maybe he knows something about that, or also Wesley Smith that appears on the credits in the same page.
Hope this helps
Carlo

[listfunnel] is a standard object since Max 4.5.x. Your problem is
elsewhere. Do you have any error message in the Max window?

That means that you have an old version of listfunnel somewhere in
your search path. Locate it and put it to the trash, restart Max and
everything should be smooth then.

This link seems to have gotten broken. Any chance you could repost it?
