this is nearly working, one thing isnt quite right though and im racking my brain about it again

i think the slide object may help but im not sure where

enclosed is a patch which takes readings from a distance sensor, it will be one of six sensors mounted on a large wall painting. as the distance changes (people walk towards or away from the sensor) the patch fades different samples in and out. it works ok if the numbers go up and down in order (1 to 2 to 3 and so on) but if a number comes in out of sequence (like if someone walks across the beam from the side for example) then that corresponding sample stays playing even after the numbers change and doesnt fade out until its number is part of a 1,2,3, sequence again, which is not what i want. i only want a sample to play if max msp receives the corresponding number, if the number changes then i want the sample to fade out....

does this make sense? i hope so and i hope someone can give me a bit of help, i think once i have sorted out this problem i will be nearly there

nearly finished my sensor reading patch, just one more problem to solve (i hope)
