need a dictionary/thesaurus for a max patch

January 31, 2006 | 3:33 pm

Anyone know where I might be able to download a dictionary/thesaurus in text or xml that is free as in, well free. I need something that I can use in max for my "algo writer thingy", something I just wanna make for assistance with writing abstract poetry and suchery.

Mixmaster Max,
I don’t know of such a thing that can be done locally, but
dictionary.com and thesaurus.com are fairly straightforward to hack.
You could even use them to build your own dictionary/thesaurus. I did
it using an mxj object where I donloaded the web pages and parsed them
out into word and synonyms.

best,
wes

If you Google on a half-dozen unrelated words you’ll find quite a few
word collections.

Try this:
< http://www.google.com/search?
q=outstanding+exceeds+expectation+acceptable+poor+dreadful+t roll>.

Hmmm. Not such a good example (for this task, as good as it is for the
allgemeinbildung). Try "aardvark aback abacus abandon abasement abash
abbey" instead.
