Need Some Help

June 19, 2006 | 10:54 pm

Here’s my system stats for reference:
PowerMac G5 Quad
MaxMSP/Jitter
4.5GB ram
Sony MiniDV video camera connected via firewire
DVD player connected by S-Video -> Canopus ADVC110 -> Firewire

I want to do 2 grabs on these inputs, but Jitter will only grab one or the other. I have 2 grab patches hooked in. It will recognize both input devices on the input list, but won’t give me both feeds. Any advice? I’m doing live video for Michael Glabicki of Rusted Root on saturday and need to work this out. just let me know if you need more info.

Sorry, Apple’s DV driver only supports 1 DV source on any machine. As
far as that driver is concerned, the Canopus is no different from the
Sony, and it will only permit one.

…it means you need a so called video digitizer, you need at least one.

I never tried the USB2 model.
but with the firewire model, the video comes uncompressed, so it’s lighter for the cpu and it
gives less latency.
you can hook up a lot of them, I once hade four connected at the same time.
though beware the limitations of the firewire bus, depending the resolution needed you may need
several firewire PCI cards.

cant you use the IIDC driver for the DV devices ? I vaguely remember
being able to have 2 DV Devices running if I used that driver.
Perhaps Im wrong, but I thought so.
