Any TCP/IP wonk out there help me with something?

I am working on an application that uses a "Device Server" from a company called IOLan. This box has 8 ports that you can connect to serial devices. The idea is that you use TCP to send a command out of Max - you use the IP of the IOLan box and specify a port which corresponds to one of the serial outs on the box. For instance the IOLan box is at 192.168.1.50 and the device I'm trying to control is connected to the first port, which I've configured to be port 10001.

1) mxj net.tcp.send @address 192.168.1.50 @port 10001

My problem is that the the send works but the receive doesn't. The tech at IOLan thinks that net.tcp.receive perhaps isn't configured to read "raw TCP", that it needs some special formatting such as the type implemented by Telnet.

I can communicate in 2 directions outside of Max by opening 2 HyperTerminal sessions, one using WinSock for the TCP/IP connection to the IOLan box and another using a COM port that is connected to the first serial out of the IOLan. I can type in either Terminal window and see the text appear in the other window.

I can also send a message directly from net.tcp.send to net.tcp.receive in another simple patch where I'm using the loopback address (127.0.0.1).

Does anyone have any info on whats going on with net.tcp.receive??
