New Features in 4.6

November 20, 2006 | 10:09 pm

I’m always late in upgrading to the latest version. And, before doing so, I try to look over the documentation toget an idea of what to expect. But, unlike previous versions, the 4.6 docs don’t include a "What’s new in 4.6" document. Does anyone know of a source for this information? I’m not really into comparing PDFs on a line-by-line basis.

- it works natively on MacTel (UB)
- it allows you to create UB plug-ins/standalone
- pluggo and the others plug-ins are UB
- there’s a new version of Jitter (1.6x), with new objects
(imageunit, more shaders…)
- some bug fixes
- some new features (a lot of "small things" in pattrstorage e.g)
- …

Best,

Thanks, this is helpful. I’m still curious as to why the "what’s new" file is no longer included in the release. This seems an oversight. For example, I only learned about udpsend and udpreceive (significant new objects) in a separate tutorial.

I just downloaded MaxMSP 4.6.2 from Cycling74 – included with the
disk image is the file ‘ChangeLog.rtf’ which covers the ‘new and
improved’ bits – is this what you’re referring to?
