i havent had new hardware since the launchpad came out, but i really really want to.. i just dont know what to get. i got good monitors, a good sound card, my good old edirol pcr300 and a launchpad. but to be honest it bores me a bit. ild like to get something new.. but what?

so i started thinking, i dont "need" anything really, sadly 36 keys and a mouse are doing just fine for my music making. so im thinking about something more "fun"

what about native instruments kontrol f1 controller? anyone got some expierience concerning max? i thought about patching a step sequencer or some nice templates to control some effects in live.... but i dont want to buy it just to find out that not eery knob/fader is assignable...

then, of course, i see die maschine everytime im online... i dont know about that thing, i never wanted an mpc... and i imagine it to be a bit complicated and weird.. having a big part of your project in one single plugin and then mixing down one half of your song in live and the other one in maschine...

i also dont really get whats so new about 2.0 version besides the flashy lights.. maybe its time to try and get the old one, i dont know. 550 is a lot of money right now, i would love to spend it on music though probably spend it on speed in the end.

what i actually could use would be a controller to record automation... if you use live i probably wont have to tell you why.

and of course, anything you can make yourself is good to, tons of youtube how-to videos on how to use all sorts of things from edible playing services (such as using jello as control service or grapes for sequences) to cubes (ala light cubes or any other reactable mutations to playing the air (most popular in this field is the kinect).

Are there many examples of tactile interfaces/controllers (similar to or based on the Monome/Lauchpad/MPC model) that have discrete velocity sensitive buttons or pads, that light up and whose brightness is linked to dynamic velocity? Are the majority of velocity sensitive pads/buttons the usual black or grey? Apologies to OP for the hijack, and thanks.

@Brendan i was going to recommend the QuNeo to you as well, for something that is pressure sensitive and changes different colors according to position (not sure if buy pressure).

Otherwise, Livid seems to be an alternative to the monome spinoffs besides the launchpad.

All this push for Livid they should hook me up, but i don't own any of their stuff, too expensive for my blood at the moment but it looks like quality stuff.

i speculate that more controllers will go the route of the revolutionary monome, since the new range of DJ controllers seem to be going buttons over jog wheels. As you are probably aware, DJs are dictating the evolution of controllers right now.

As someone who was/is opposed the "Monome (et al) as instrument" trend, I find myself unconsciously following this trend anyway. How/why? Osmosis maybe? Ethernet bleed?

Well this would be an individual Creative but worth thinking about! ;-)

we are just finishing the work in more complex sensors which allow determinition of fingerpositions in three additional dimensions and in the whole Key area!
