Hello,

I am completely overwhelmed by the whole Max/Msp/Max for live/ableton environment! But I’m a fast learner, and I sure would like to find a solution for my situation. Hopefully some kind soul can steer me in the right direction.

I want a midi sequencer for live use. This sequencer would contain a midi sequence involving several tracks, and then allow me to be able to step through the sequence using my controller. I would send the midi data into Mainstage for the sounds. But basically every time I play a note on my controller, this hypothetical sequencer would proceed to the next note or group of notes and sound them (for what would probably have to be a pre-set duration, I know). The actual note I am using to control the sequence makes no sound.

That’s the basic idea- would it already exist? If not, would it be hard to create?

Thank you very much for your time! Darcy

[mtr] should be good with the “next” message, but also coll, multislider and others will play nice with you incrementing a [counter].

Have you done the midi tutorials? You really ought to, they’ll hold your hand through this to a great extent.

I am using coll for something like this, it’s more flexible, but involves a litte more patching maybe.
I think it is the best solution if you think about using this for a long time and always changing the sequencer and adding features. You can simply do everything with coll..

Hi people,

I’m looking for the exact same thing. Need to trigger a long list of midi notes from one single foot controller. Did you find any existing patch that did the trick @dpmusic?

I have this gig coming up Friday where I would love to have this solution up and running… Will be forever thankful if anyone would share a patch or link to lead me to a happy end of this quest :-) Being a Max newbie I don’t think I will manage to patch together what I’ll be needing until Friday…
