hi everybody
i?m new to max/msp so please forgive me….

i would like to have the textedit to output a number that i put into it …as a value so i could change a frequency or something else….

would somebody help me please?

Put text in message box and click on it.
(This should be on the first pages of the manual somewhere please read it, without it no luck !)

i know but then the text is set…i need a field that i can change ( like the textfield ) the number and then output it as a value for a filter freq.

i would like to have e.g. 3 or more textfields to enter a number and output this number to as a value for a freq. so that in the UI window of the plugin you can change the frequency with the textfield and you dont have to scroll like mad if one wants to change the freq. from 50 to 14000 hz.

and clicking in a number box, changing the number and pressing return
isn’t enough?

it would be enough =0
but i can?t click on the number box and change the number and then press enter…..hm….it only changes the number by mouse up or down…
can i change the setting of the number box without in the inspector??

maybe my keyboard has not the right setting to do this ??

weird.

you can click into it and change the number with your keyboard???

(this drives me mad….can?t be that heavy…can it?)

i thought i had to double click it …holding the mouse down and typing in + pressing enter WORKS fine …
:)

It took you more than 2 hours, and 14 messages in a thread, 8 of which
you wrote… You can do a lot of the tutorials in that time.

If I recall correct, what went wrong was your idea, to do it with
textedit. Instead of describing what you wanted to do, and just
delivering your (nor working) solution to analyze, you asked about
textedit which was far away from the (very simple) solution.

Most responses couldn’t imagine that you don’t know something very
basic. If you start concrete with what you want to achieve, best with an
example patch which exposes the problem, the answers would have been
immediately more precise…
