Meters show the input and the dac is tuned on. fader is up. Does the output need enabling in some way

Have you checked the Max window for any errors?
The mixer uses the panner util as well. You will need to put it in your file path.

The panner is indeed the problem. Max can’t find it – but it is in the same folder as the mixer and that folder is selected in the File Preferences. Is there a way I can force it to find it? I am just beginning with all this, as I am sure is obvious!

One thing to check is to bring up the max file browser and type in “panner”.
If max actually knows about it, it will show it (or multiple objects by the same name).

If you just added the file path to your file preferences, you may need to restart max.
