No Audio Outputs in v5/Leopard/Intel
Hi Guys,
I have just installed v5 on my Intel Macbook Pro with 10.5.3, and in the DSP Status window (4.5 and 4.6 also reside on this machine), I just get Input Channels and Output Channels as 0, despite setting up I/O mappings and the actual 1 Output/2 Output etc in the Channel boxes below.
I have tried trashing the preferences.
I just tried sticking v5 on my Tiger PPC, and it works exactly as expected.
I cannot see any other such references elsewhere on the forums- has anyone got any ideas?
PS do these I/Os have anything to do with Java? My Java has been under attack from a wretched badly coded app called Viewletbuilder which seems to corrupt it, necessitating an OS reinstall, which naturally, I am not very happy to repeat too often!
Thanks for the interest Hubert.
I do not understand what you mean. Could you be a little more specific please? Sorry.
Thanks.
I am afraid that it does not seem to work. I created the new device, no problem- that bit was news to me!, but it does not show in Max5. I cannot see the new device in DSP Status options, even after a system restart.
I also notice that even when selecting say Core Audio, if I close the DSP Status window, it has reverted to "None" when I re-open it....
There have been several posts recently about problems with Max5 and
Audio Outputs under Leopard. It's the first I've heard of what appears
to be a major problem. I'm about to upgrade my machine and have no
other option than to move to Leopard. Is this no audio outputs business
something all Max5 users are experiencing under leopard?

Max 5 fully supports Mac OS 10.5 - Leopard.
It works fine on the OS. Most of the (very rare) problems we have seen in support are due to faulty installs of the OS. Please do not use the Apple migration assistant for large applications. Install Max 5 and your other complex audio production apps freshly.

...so where does that leave me?
Call or email support.
Unfortunately it doesn't sound too much like it's our problem, but Ben or Kane might still be able to get you going.
