No [key] with jit.cellblock??

April 24, 2007 | 7:50 am

hi

i am using jit.cellblock for the first time (only to see/edit a
Excel-like grid, in an otherwise no-jitter patch)

when the patch is in non-edit mode and the jit.cellblock is in the
patch, the [key] object does not report key strokes..

that is on mac, osX48, maxmsp 457.

some other object could do the job???

thanks

kasper

i just had the same situation. probably, jit.cellblock is still
selected (like with numbox), so you have to click once more outside
cellblock to deselect it. then, key is working again. I ended up
using hi for keyboard controls for jit.cellblock to avoid this.

ice.key will report keystrokes even when Max thinks some object has "focus".

You can write me off-list for more information…

hello Kasper,

maybe keyup or hi(on mac) might help?

This came up about a year ago as well. My method then, as now, is to set .cellblock to "ignore click" and use external messages to select the cells I want (such as [key]->[counter]->[select $1])

thanks for all the answers

yes I was willing to select a cell and fill it with a keystroke

so it is impossible – will try the diverses solutions you send me.

best

kasper
