I'm building a bog-standard drum sequencer for a friend and I'm using [dropfile] to drag and drop sounds straight into the patch to import the sounds... I'd like to show the filename of the sound in the patch next to the matrix e.g. "kickdrum.wav" - the problem is that when you extract the filename into a comment or message box it gives you the whole damn path e.g. "c:documents....." which isn't exactly readable or friendly. I've explored relative and absolute path options but it still seems to be displaying the same complete path.

Have I overlooked something that's staring me right in the face here?

Could you use the [umenu] object in conjunction with the [folder] object, like so:
