noise decay is killing me

Hi all, just a question about the decay of noise~. As it is it has a very long decay time and i want to have control of it by adjusting that time to my liking. I’ve tried using line~ and pack to do this but without any results. This is a patch similar to how i have tried to set it up. If my brain serves me correctly, the message going into line~ should send a starting amplitude of 1 and a target amplitude of 0, with the dial going into the right inlet of lin~ to set a ramp time but it doesn’t.
Any help would be much appreciated,
Steve
