the nonrealtime driver. i want to learn how to use this
stuff as i might need it soon.

Just two things: Check scheduler in audio interupt, elswise your metros,
lines etc are out of time and not locked to audio time.
And avoid direct disc access with sfplay~ sfrecord~ and alike. They will
be much, much slower than realtime. Record everything into big buffers
and write those to disk… Speeds up a lot…
I think there isn’t much more to consider. Your patch will either be
faster than before, or it will be able to do stuff it couldn’t do becaus
of missing CPU power…
If you need to render directly to disk, just beware that it might take
much longer than you’d expect…
