Not Speed Limit but close

I’m building a patch for audio input (piezo pickups on wood) triggering either MIDI or audio samples (percussion sounds).

I’m having a bit of a problem keeping the triggered bangs consistently singular. Sometimes there’s a torrent of bangs sent.

So I’m looking for an object to clean up the extraneous notes/bangs. I tried the speedlimit object but it’s not quite right… it actually delays some notes.

Any ideas?

gate + delay works great, here’s a easier solution with only onebang +

Hey there thanks a ton for the responses. Totally what I was looking for… the onebang object.. and thanks for the other method too (just using a gate plus delay). I find it amazing how versatile this program can be… I mean if you know a few of the main objects really well, then you can build many of the other objects.

It would be interesting to know what the most valuable objects to people are.. like “top 20 max objects as voted by users”… wonder if there’s a poll option on this forum..?

anyway thanks again.. time to get back to the patch.

i don’t know about 20, my four goto objects when i start thinking about patch logic are gate, counter, coll, and select.

Yeah I actually settled on the gate/delay version instead of the onebang since that way I could include integers in the process (for velocity information).

The gate object has been helping me out a lot lately. I also tend to use the if object due to a few computer science classes I’ve taken.

Sounds boring, as it doesn’t really do much, but for me its trigger…
A close second is bang… ;-)
The third is a bit more complex, its an new version of St.gain~, which
will be available soon with a Max 5 compatible version of my St.ools…

onebang has done wonders for me lately, also metro, f and i can be helpful in some situations ;-)
