either the manual is wrong or the numberbox object.

as it seems numberbox only takes zero or nonzero, which
is not what the reference book says.

color [int] doesn’t work for me either. The brgb/frgb stuff works well though.

#P window setfont "Sans Serif" 9.;
#P window linecount 1;
#P message 39 115 56 196617 frgb 0 0 0;
#P message 38 97 93 196617 brgb 221 221 221;
#P toggle 38 57 15 0;
#P newex 38 75 202 196617 select 0 1;
#P message 135 116 92 196617 frgb 255 255 255;
#P message 134 98 69 196617 brgb 200 0 0;
#P window setfont "Sans Serif" 18.;
#P number 84 191 60 18 0 0 0 3 0 0 0 221 221 221 222 222 222 0 0 0;
#P connect 3 1 1 0;
#P connect 3 1 2 0;
#P connect 3 0 5 0;
#P connect 3 0 6 0;
#P connect 5 0 0 0;
#P connect 6 0 0 0;
#P connect 4 0 3 0;
#P connect 2 0 0 0;
#P connect 1 0 0 0;
#P window clipboard copycount 7;

Yeah, the color command to number boxes seems flaky. Sometimes it’ll change OK, then change back upon re-opening. Is the color command (like for messages) from early early versions?

The brgb and frgb work much better anyways, and seem to be stable. Plus a transparent background on numbers is cool, it can remove some of that "blockiness" of Max interfaces. Use a transparent background on a custom-colored panel for a background maybe, that looks pretty nice (and provides a border). Of course, the little selection triangle is gone, but ah well.
